An amazing read. Although written in the dark days of the 1930s, it is still and prhaps even more relevant in our time, 2013. A lot of food for thought.

One of the greatest stories I have read so far in my life. The quotes are inspirational and the ideas philosophical. I would highly recommend to anyone without a doubt.

A fascinating peek inside the mind of Ayn Rand -- quick and intense. Makes me want to reread some of her longer works. If you've never read her works, this is a great place to start.

This was, by far, the best short story I have ever had the pleasure of reading. I only wish it had been extended into a novel! A real feel good message for all.

Wow, this was really powerful. In a way it was a backwards version of the Adam and Eve story. This is my new favorite book; I read it all in one sitting! Simply beautiful!

This book is not her best. It seems rushed. I do not agree with the unrealistical happy ending or the bland ending climax to the discovery of the new word.

Loved this Poetically written. Skillfully authored. Genius lies in the simplest of ideas sometimes. Ayn Rand is a master.

This is a quick read that makes some thought provoking comments on the indivuidual vs. society. It's an anti-socialism novel that is reminicent of 1984.

What an amazing read. I read this over 20 years ago and it seems so much more relevant in 2012...how ironic it was penned in 1938....

Ayn Rand was born in Russia, and lived there during and after the Bolshevik revolution, so she knows the despair that comes from Communism. However, she did not know the one true God. So this is reflected in this, her second novel.
