The classic vampire story by Bram Stoker revolves around a struggle between good and evil, tradition and modernity, and lust versus chastity. The author didn’t invent vampires, but his novel has so captured the public’s imagination that he is rightly considered their popularizer. Listen and you will meet not only the Count himself, but heroes Jonathan Harker and Abraham Van Helsing, plus an array of madmen, psychiatrists, and fair maidens who cross paths with the fanged menace.

It's soo much better than the movie

Great story. Shame about some of the readers
July 28, 2014
Fantastic story! Alexander Dumas weaves a thrilling tale! Starts off a little slow, but grown more and more exciting as the story progresses. Overall great narration as well.

This book was more intriguing than the movie.

Very good sound.

An excellent story!!
November 14, 2013
The readers are awful specifically Marlo Diane!!!!! Terrible fake accents. Made it unbearable to listen. I had to skip sections.
November 08, 2013
Loved it in the 6th grade even better now to many years later!
September 24, 2013
Good book, many good readers--except those who did horrible character accents. Marla made me want to pull my hair out she was so horrible, along with a deep voiced male. But in working through that I am very happy with everything else.

Five star story. A few of the readers are great and nail the various accents, but some really need to volunteer elsewhere. Maybe try version two in this app.
June 27, 2013
Marla is not a good reader and disappointing
June 13, 2013
Great story. Loses a star for one of the recurring female narrators that made me want to scream! Don't let it stop you from an otherwise enjoyable listen!

Great book loved it.
May 10, 2013
Great classic. A worthy fore-runner of this genre. Although I admire anyone who is prepared to do this for free and for the benefit of others, the readers were of variable quality. I would recommend that future volunteers do not attempt accents unless they are sure they are good at them.

The story is superb but one reader nearly made me quit listening. I was hugely relieved every time her chapter ended and was very disappointed to have to hear her again in the last chapters. If not for that I'd give the book 5 stars.
October 31, 2012
Great Book... Hated the one woman reader who read a few chapters in book and last two chapters!! She was terrible! Completely distracting and was unable to completely follow along w her voice! Especially during her accents with Van Helsing character. Ruined whole book for me!!
October 25, 2012
Please keep to one Narrator. Its is such a brilliant book...a bit dissapointed with all the different narrators though

This is a great book for classic horror lovers, it's one of the first of it's kind. Dracula has a very creepy atmosphere and is a must have book

Love the story. I wish the audio level was consistent. I abhor it when the performers whisper or have an affected accent. The story is compelling, suspenseful and captivating - all without being obscene. Bravo.

Great book. Unfortunately, two of the readers really bothered me. If you can get by this, you will enjoy.
August 22, 2012
Only one reader should read the book. To many people reading so spoken words not always the same.

there were annoying readers tho, but all in all...i loved it! ^o^ i spent so much time listening to this! Wish there were more horror stories. ='(

This review is based on the recording for chapter two: female William Shatner attempting an English accent. It was terribly distracting. Knew she was going to be a problem when she mispronounced the author's name (to my knowledge). Hey-- but free (practically) is free.
July 06, 2012
Book is good, however some Of the readers are a bit annoying especially lady who have read few chapters, inc.chapter no.26.

The book is good but I'm not enjoying the failed actress' rendition of chapter 2. Please ensure you can do the accents before going public with them.

Good story but would be better if read by same gender as each chapter is given as journal entries. Last reader though reads as though she were reading from the obituaries and her attempt at accent imitation was not very good and sounded very slurry. I found it to be very distracting. But if you can get beyond that, still worth listening to.

I was really pleased to get to know with the story of count Dracula. Concerning the book I liked the first part better. And as for the readers I have nothing against anyone of them except the one who read the last two chapters. I am sorry to say this but to me she really "screwed" the end of the book. Anyway I am so much thankful for having the opportunity to hear all those wonderful audiobooks. Great thanks to LibriVox and Classicly.

In terms of the readers, it is my least favorite so far. :/ In terms of the book, I enjoyed the first half but found the 2nd half very boring.
March 26, 2012
A terrific piece of literature that will stay in your mind.
March 24, 2012
Some of the readers are horrible!! Almost ruined the end of the book for me because chapters 26 & 27 are read by the same terrible reader!

Wonderful prose would have been more enjoyable had it been read by same gender as character. Imitation of strong accents made it difficult to understand at times.

Great book spoiled by the readers. Chapter one appears to be read by a female voiced speak and spell machine.
November 02, 2011
One of my favorites.
October 29, 2011
I love this book. Though, I do not love some of those who read it. The fake accents are so aggravating. There are a couple of Englishmen who read and that was delightful but listening to women read in a fake Van Helsing accent was the worst.
October 15, 2011
A fantastic classic story, multi-layered in its interpretations and ALWAYS intriguing. This one will keep you wanting to learn more about the history, culture and background of the dramatis personae!

Fantastic book! Though I've seen so many different movie versions of this story, as they say, the book was better. Some of the readers were difficult to put up with. Chapters 5&6, who also reads later, had seemingly little to no practice with accents, thus making him terribly hard to understand. Somewhere around chapter 19-21, there was a young lady who, I'm guessing, took no time to go over what she was about to read, and it sounded, unfortunately, like a 5th grader reading. There were also a few readers who sounded detached and rather monotones, but there certainly were those who read well. I especially like it when readers put effort into changing their voices to attone for the different characters I would have loved to have seen more characterization in some of the readings!
August 11, 2011
Some of the readers sucked but wow! What a great book!
May 27, 2011
Reader really pulled me in with his reading! Loved the book. Reader of chapter 5 was detached and I had to turn down the volume in order to get through it.
