The Book of Mormon

by Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints

50 ratings, 17 reviews

The Book of Mormon is a sacred text of the Latter Day Saint movement that contains writings of ancient prophets who lived on the American continent from approximately 2600 BC to AD 421. It was first published in March 1830 by Joseph Smith, Jr. as The Book of Mormon: An Account Written by the Hand of Mormon upon Plates Taken from the Plates of Nephi.

The Book of Mormon is the earliest of the unique writings of the Latter Day Saint movement, the denominations of which regard the text not only as scripture but also as a historical record of God's dealings with the ancient inhabitants of the Americas. The Book of Mormon is divided into smaller books, titled after the individuals named as primary authors and, in most versions, divided into chapters and verses. It is written in English, very similar to the Early Modern English linguistic style of the King James Version of the Bible, and has since been fully or partially translated into 108 languages.

More and less than I thought. More Christian, more compatable with the Bible, more insightful. Less weird than told by ministers, less boring. Bottom line: More good/Less bad. Really, this was not what I was lead to expect, very glad I read if for myself and didn't let others decide me what I would think. I heard many times that I shouldn't read it because it was evil and would damage me in some way... Wow- that was sooooo not true. Obviously the real reason the anti-Book of Mormon zealots didn't want me to read was that when I did, I felt myself relying more on Christ and less on them... it ws a most interesting and wonderful experience.

The Book of Morman is a complimentry addtional reading to the Bible. This book is not ment to take the place of the bible, as would believe. The Book of Morman tells of the struggles of the believers that their was and is a Christ.

Helped me to believe in Christ. Using the new testament from the old world and the book of mormon from the new world, I know of a surety that Jesus is the Christ.

Fictional accounts without proof or merit; Much of this text has been plagiarized from the bible. Unverified archaeologically.

This book reads like the Gospels as you can follow the teachings of Jesus Christ. Additionally, it reads like a history of the Americas in ancient days. It dovetails well with the Bible. This book deserves a place in great world literature.

This is a Great book. If someone will read, ponder and pray about the book as it stated in 3 Nephi 10:3-5 will know its truthfulness. Just try for yourself and don't give any room of doubt as you read it. It draw me closer to the Lord and it change my life better. I know it will happen to you too.

To read this book and still say that Mormons are not Christians is to say you have not read the book at all. I read every page and I was amazed at the further incite in to the Gospel of Jesus Christ that I never before read the the Bible. It truly is another testament of Jesus Christ.
