Absolutely brilliant wasn't expecting the end. Explains social constaints of 18th century. Alas present century young woman do not have a full appreciation of sacrifaces/ struggles made for them.

Couldnt really relate to the heroines problems & conflicts.seemed old fashioned. Reiting was captivating & un embellished however.

I could barely put this down! A real page turner. Quite the tale. Written so long ago but still so interesting, especially considering that she knew her subjects so well.

Loved this book. Talks about social mobility and and whether women were really free to follow their hearts or whether they are bound by circumstance. Very engaging.

A well written story about wether one is formed by their circumstances or by their inner sense of self. The book kept me from cover to cover. Highly recommend it to those looking for a departure from normal romances.
