The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
If you loved the movie The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, then you should read the short story-because apart from the title and the fact that Benjamin ages backwards, they are nothing alike. So it saves you from having to decide whether you prefer the book or the movie.
In the story version by F. Scott Fitzgerald, Benjamin Button is born an old man who fancies smoking his father's pipe and reading encyclopedias rather than playing with toys. As he gets younger he reaches the right age to start working, then to go to college, then to fight in the war. Finally, when he's grown (emm, shrunk) to a baby, Benjamin enjoys playing with children's toys. In the book version you don't get to see Brad Pitt, but you do get to enjoy some fantastic Jazz Age prose from the master Fitzgerald.

It was hilarious! However, I found the end terribly depressing and I want to know what happened to Hildegarde.

The book was very interesting. I liked that it wasn't as explicit as the movie. The ending was sad and after I got to a certain point in the book, I grew bored. Still a great read!

Most books you find surpass their movie counterparts... This one fell short and the story was rather flawed. I liked the movies plot better. Still glad I read it tho.

It was a perplexing and intuitive story. Quite good and easy reading. The brief comedic point were mulled over by the dreary ending, giving the book a bit of morbid flair.

Again, if you are looking for the film, this has very little in common. The story of a man whose life ages in reverse and how society shuns him for being different. As his life is in reverse, he tends to find himself alienated from humanity despite following a fairly typical path.

If you are one of those people that invariably compare book to movie & visa-versa, this short story will not be one. The two are as night is to day. I found them to be equally interesting and well done.

I took interest in reading this novel by F Scott Fitzgerald having previously seen the film based around it. Though the two were almost nothing alike, I enjoyed this quick, entertaining, and thought provoking read centered around Benjamin Button, a man who ages backwards. Unique premise and I enjoyed the historical context as well.
