Crime and Punishment

52 ratings, 24 reviews

Crime and Punishment focuses on the mental anguish and moral dilemmas of Rodion Romanovich Raskolnikov, an impoverished St. Petersburg student who formulates and executes a plan to kill a hated, unscrupulous pawnbroker for her money, thereby solving his financial problems and at the same time, he argues, ridding the world of evil.

Crime and Punishment is considered by many as the first of Dostoevsky’s cycle of great novels, which would culminate with his last completed work, The Brothers Karamazov, shortly before his death.

This book has me captivated. The first reader needs to give English a few more years before making another recording but the following readers are quite good.

This is a fantastic book, but I'd rather hear someone with a kazoo reading this book than this guy....

Dostoevskiy rocks! The narrator? Was he high on something really strong?!?

Great book but awful awful reading. Why on earth would this even be on here when it's being read by someone for whom English is not their first language. Totally pointless

Book itself is great, but it's like having a five year old read it an have to sound out every word. The beauty is in the story, but you can't get it from someone who cannot read English. Save yourself the trouble don't download.

The voice of the narrator was so difficult to understand that I couldnt listen beyond chapter one. I really wanted to listen to this book but won't because of the narrator!

Could not stand the reader's voice past the first few sentences! Ick!

How did this narrator get past audit? Is he going out of his way to repulse and torture the readers? The horrid and horrible accent combined with mis-pronunciations and awful enunciations forced me to put this iconic book down. Shame shame shame. Please have this narrated by someone who cares about the readers' mental health.

The accent and reader's voice makes this unlistenable past the first paragraph. Such a dissappointment.

Is this a joke? I cannot understand a single word. This garbage is truly an insult to one of the best Russian classics.
