Great book, fun to read. I just stayed up until after 5AM in order to finish it. Couldn't put it down once I got into it. Its what Sci-Fi should be even for a book released in 1960!

A great story and easy read. The time and setting may change but human foils remain the same. The author was able to convey a lot of imaginery concisely.

Aaron summed it up very well the story was immersive and to be honest the book for me at least had great meaning in it's themes.

Extremely original. Though written half a century ago, themes are still very much relevant today. Not weighted down by pseudo-scientific babble like many sci-fi novels of past eras. Yet the sci-fi aspects are very easy to buy into. Characters are relatable and well-fleshed out. There are so many aspects of this short novel that made it a page turner, but it was each character's inner struggles and how they affected their outlooks on life/death that had me hooked. Apparently there is a series of books following our young, psionic protagonist Jason dinAlt, which I'll surely be looking into. Find some time to sit and read this novel, and see for yourself how difficult it is to put down. Truly an amazing find!

Fantastic action packed yarn in a fantastic setting. Well fleshed out characters that you can empathise with, acting logically and humanly in a deadly environment. Great writing bring you into the thick of the action and it took me a while to realise that this was also a detective story, with clues to solve the giant mystery of the planet. The planet itself, Pyrrhus, is the classic Deathworld, with everything, literally everything trying to kill man. From climate and earthquakes, ferocious animals to plants and all the way down to algae, all lethal. My favourite part is the power holster; I want one! Great idea, great writing, great plot. A classic!

Definitely a page turner that I could barely put down, and found myself immersed in the richly painted prose and breathable characters. A great find!!!

Interesting and fun. A quick well written read. Straight forward story without contemporary melodrama thrown in. Likeable character. Despite one review that mentions religion only one pg talks about religion in general This is an adventure story.

What a page turner! Written more than half a century ago, and yet, the problems and ideals set forth, are just as relevant and persistent now as they were when this book was written. I ended up reading it all in one sitting!

Thought it was great, but the ending was a bit sudden. Good read for people who like Asimov's stories.
