What a story, set in such different times to those we live in today, the society of such gentry we see not nowadays. From the vulgarity of Mrs Bennett to the gentleness of Jane. The mild acceptance of MrBennett to the haughtiness of Lady Kathering DeBurg we see that outworking of the class system at its best and its worst. But these are merely the backdrop to a story of love, and love in all its moods. I have enjoyed the book very much and can heartily recommend as a book which will draw one into the story of Pride and Prejudice.

My wife and I have seen the BBC version we have on DVD several times, we have memorized much of the dialogue and recite it at each other in character and voice. We have also analyzed the themes and characters. We love the humor and traditional values, and the heroine who does not sit with too quite a tounge. My mom (an Educator) introduced us to MR. DARR-CY (you have to say it that way) and we thank her still. Reccomend to all.

Though Pride and Prejudice is somewhat a fairytale (because the marriages were not really possibly for that time), it is still the best lovestory of all time! But a big recommendation is to watch the series with Colin Firth, there are no other man who can play Mr. Darcy! And besides Keira Knigthly, she played well as Elizabeth Bennet, is to pretty. She would have been better fit to play Jane.

This is my favorite Austen book! Elizabeth is such a strong and intelligent character. She can be stubborn but I like that she isn't perfect or lets people run over her. Her budding relationship with Darcy is so marvelous to read! Great read!
