Eve's Diary is a short story by Mark Twain published in 1905 in Harper's Bazaar magazine. It's a comical diary kept by Eve, the first woman in the biblical creation myth, supposedly "translated from the original" manuscript. It details her life from a young age, meeting Adam, and exploring the land of Eden. Later it recounts the "fall from grace" and getting kicked out of Eden.
Eve's Diary is one of a series Twain wrote about Adam and Eve, including 'Extracts from Adam's Diary,' 'That Day In Eden,' 'Eve Speaks,' 'Adam's Soliloquy,' and the 'Autobiography of Eve.' In this version of the biblical tale, Eve, not Adam, names all the animals and plants. Adam is boring and conceited, while Eve is a delightful and curious woman. This might have Twain's memorial to his wife, who tragically died shortly before its publication.

Short story. Funny, positive and sweet. Not religious. Funny how modern comedians focus on the same gender differences ( real or imagined).

I cant help feeling that Twain managed to skip on some important parts that would have been very interesting to write (or to know what Twain's version of Eve's take on the related biblical events). Except for some biblical incongruence, i think it is a very interesting take on Eve's (or rather, a tribal female's) possible nature and daily thoughts. It is a short interesting read.

Parts made me laugh and I liked seeing it all through her eyes but I feel alot was left out. Could have/should have been longer

Loved the perspective twain took with this remarkable little look into the mind of the children of Eden

I liked the book very, very much. It was hilarious and there wasn't a single dull moment while I was reading it. It was very clever to put both Adam and Eve's perspective into the book. Both sides persuade very well and I haven't decided which perspective to follow.

This was a beautiful an haunting look into the life of Eve. She was funny, witty, and deals with the same angering issues of men that we experience today. Her wisdom and outlook on life is heavily inspiring. I recommend everyone to read this short story.

A humorous little story that gives a twist to the biblical story of Adam and eve in the garden of Eden. Reading it I thought is eve a blonde? Think Kelly bundy as far as brains goes. Still enjoyable.
