Frankenstein
Frankenstein, or the Modern Prometheus, is the classic gothic horror novel by Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley, who began writing the influential work at the age of 18. It features Dr. Victor Frankenstein, who successfully brings to life a monster that eventually goes on a rampage (and no, the monster is not called Frankenstein - a mistake made even by intelligent people).
The Modern Prometheus element hints at Shelley's theme that warns against the advance of the Industrial Revolution, which gone unchecked might turn into a monster. Horror fans might not think Frankenstein is gory enough, and too laden with moral subtexts for their tastes, but the book is a well crafted piece of fiction, and its contribution to subsequent genres is immeasurable. Awesome trivia: Mary Shelley wrote Frankenstein as part of a ghost story contest between her husband, Lord Byron, a Dr. Polidori, and herself, and the concept for it came to her in a dream.

Extraordinary! It shows that before we create... We must understand that creation does not end at any stage we want...But there is a process for everything! you miss it and you have a monster.Sometimes it is wise TZo bean average human being rather than being extraordinary!

Great read. I enjoyed the emotion I was put through, reading as the creature learns/experiences basic human compassion as an outsider looking in. You begin to side with the monster and feel his anguish as he is continuously denied the thinnest sliver of happiness by his own creator.

Awesome story! Thrills from page to page! Wonder what Mary would think of "Frankenweenie"? 200 years later and her book is still captivating imaginations! Wow! (Frankenweenie was great btw)

This is one of my favorite books of all time. Of all the romantacist writers, I thought Mary Shelley captured an interesting moment in history, even if it's a fictional story. Top notch!
