This is an interesting book about the history of the computer and the development of computer science from the start of the hacker culture in the 1970's. I have a paperback copy of this on my shelf that I have read many times.

Once past the terribly long list of infamous computer pioneers & hackers, the book spins an interesting tale of hacking @ MIT in the nascence of computer programming. Only first two chapters are available. Enough to whet your appetite for more. Overall a good read.
