Travel Audiobooks

Travel literature has a rich history which dates at least back to Ancient Greece. In this mode an author shares his or her insights of different climes and cultures with the reading public, and it can be either non-fiction or made up. Check out the amazing travel narrative of Amelia Edwards, in her books A Thousand Miles up the Nile, and Untrodden Peaks and Unfrequented Valleys. Or there's the Glugs of Gosh by C.J. Dennis is about early 20th century Australia. The classic exploration book, South! The Story of Shackleton's 1914-1917 Expedition by Sir Ernest Henry Shackleton is sure to please. And then there's Charles Darwin's groundbreaking work The Voyage of the Beagle.

We have several books by John Muir, including The Mountains of California, and Yosemite. On the fiction side, we feature Joseph Conrad, whose books are often set in exotic locales: check out Typhoon or Lord Jim. What I Saw in America by G.K. Chesterton is full of wit and charm, and Bohemian San Francisco is a culinary tour of SF shortly after the earthquake of 1906. Another gem of a listen is Secret Chambers and Hiding Places by Allan Fea. Lastly, don't miss the lusty travel book, Memoirs of Jaques Casanova.
