This is a wonderful, comprehensive book about America's Black army heroes. As a matter of fact i have the honor of being the grandaughter of one of those heroes...2nd Lt. Elias F. E. Williams, 370th Illinois infantry. I couldn't be prouder to know that my father, sister, myself and my two daughters are decended from this proud, handsome, intelligent, black man! Not only was my father the spitting image and namesake of this proud man, he shared the same stance even, as evidenced by the photo of him in the book. What a legacy for my children and theirs. For any person interested in blacks in WWI and their service to this country and their heroic acts in France, this book is a must read! Enjoy! if you are so inclined, check out the photo of the officers from the 370th standing on the deck of a ship returning from battle in France. The coolest, proudest, handsomest dude in the front with gun holstered at his side....that's MY grandpa!
