The Vampyre is a vampire fiction in prose written by English physician John William Polidori, and it is erroneously attributed to Lord Byron. Interestingly there was a competition between authors Polidori, Mary Shelly, Lord Byron and Percy Shelley, while Polidori wrote this novel, Shelly could write Frankenstein. Polidori was the first author to blend romance in a vampire genre.
